HaliQ Bad Breath Tester

Measure the quality of your breath odour within 15 seconds.

  • Are you worried you have bad breath? It can be difficult to tell whether your breath is fresh because you’re used to what it smells like. With the HaliQ Breath Tester, you can measure the quality of your breath within just 15 seconds.
  • The HaliQ Bad Breath Tester detects the number of volatile sulphur compounds (odorous gases), also called methyl mercaptan. If no odour is measured, the number on the tester will be 0. If a lot of odour is detected, the number on the tester will be 4. If you get a number of 3 or 4, you know you need to do something about your breath odour to stop other people from noticing it.
  • HaliQ provides a much more accurate estimate than other testing methods, such as sniffing dental floss, letting saliva dry on your hand or breathing into the hand. Your nose won’t pick up these smells because it’s used to them.
  • To improve the smell of your breath, it’s advisable to address the problem areas immediately. Brush your tongue with Julibrite, clean your tonsils with Tonsilclin, cleanse your nose with Tonsilfresh, and rinse and brush your mouth with an OZ-3X formula, such as RyttPro.

How does the breath tester work?

  1. Insert 2 AAA batteries (not included) into the tester.
  2. Press and hold the On/Off button for 2 seconds.
  3. Wait for the tester to count down from 9 to C.
  4. When C flashes, blow into the small circle on the front of the tester from a distance of 1 cm for 5 seconds.
  5. Blow vigorously with pursed lips (i.e. no panting).
  6. Wait until the tester beeps once, then look at the screen to read your result:

0 = Very good
1 = Normal
2 = Not so good
3 = Bad
4 = Very bad

  • If the tester is just out of the package or hasn’t been used for a long time, the surface of the odour sensor could be contaminated. If this is the case, the breath tester will need more time to decontaminate and for the sensor to warm up. Press the on/off button again and repeat this procedure 3-5 times.
  • The use of mouthwash and/or toothpaste, food, chewing gum and drinks (other than water) may affect the results. Therefore, please wait 30 minutes after using/consuming any of these products before using the tester.

The tester works with 2 AAA batteries, which are NOT included.
